Cough cough
I want to say that I'm feeling better, but I'm not sure if I do. I'm coughing all the time and I wish it would stop. UGH!! I have stayed in bed for most of the day--which is totally what I have been wanting to do all week long. It's been great! I have however been working on stuff for my kiddos. I'm trying to create fun take to your seat centers. I have created a few that I think that they will like.

I'm Mad
One of my kiddos got me sick this week. I feel as though a truck has run over me, backed up, and run over me again. I want to go to the doctor so I can feel better, but I can't go. My health insurance doesn't kick in until monday. Now doesn't that just suck. Now, isn't that just my luck!! I could go to the doctor but I would have to spend an arm and a leg just to be seen. UGH!! I hate being a first year teacher!!

Hitting the Gym
I joined a gym!! Watch out Suzy is hitting the Gym!! Now please ask me--Can I walk--UM NO!!!! Yesterday I did an ab class--Ouch and then I worked with a personal trainer on a circut. Oh mylanta I'm so sore. I thought today if I went back and did the circut again I would feel better. Actually I did--until I got home and laid down. UGH!! I hurt in places that I didn't even know could hurt. No Pain--No Gain right?
Trouble in 4th
Yesterday the fourth grade team met for what we thought would be a short grade level meeting. Good grief I felt like I was in grade school again. There is one teacher that has such a strong personality. She basically told us to shut up until she was done talking. Oh whatever!! I finally got up and left--I just couldn't take her. She called me a nyofigh(spelling) Whatever that means. I hope that after awhile we will all get along.
I hope they are good
Well tomorrow I have to go to an inservice. Blah!! I really hope that my kiddos are good. I threatend them with every inch of their little lives. I told them that I would take away all of their 4-C bucks and no prize box for 2 months. However, I did tell them that if they are good they would be rewarded. So, I'm hoping and praying that they are good. I left a bunch of stuff for them to do. I will be so amazed if they finish it all. I told them that I am grading everything--HAHAHA. I realize that I don't ever want to be absent again--It takes a lot of work to get sub plans together.

Sunday's
I'm really starting to hate Sunday's. Sunday's to me mean--make sure things are ready to go for school on Monday, are the clothes ready and waiting for me in the closet, and going to bed early. The weekend just seems to fly by in a blink of an eye. I'm totally not liking that feeling what so ever. I say BOO to Sunday's!! Hopefully I will have a very productive week with my kiddos. I also hope that it goes by just as fast as the weekend did.

Parents--got love em
In the past two days I've had to call two different parents!! Yesterday's parents was great nice and understanding and would talk to her son about a problem that we had yesterday. This student's mother is also a teacher at another school--so she understands things.
Well, today my class was really good up until the end of the day. We had studied what predicates were and to my suprise they all got it and understood it. They had so much fun trying to figure out what the predicate was. Anyway, the were wound up and couldn't get ready to pack up to go. So, I made them sit back down and try standing in line again. We were 3 maybe 4 minutes late leaving the class. About 3:45 the PA system chimes in and ask if I was still in my class room. The military Liason walked down to my room and said that student X's mother was very upset because she was 5 minutes late getting home from school. The mother had told Ms. B that she was worried because her children are never late getting home from school. Ms. B said that student X's mom was yelling at her. So, I ended up calling mom at home and explaining why she was late. The mom said that she was getting her babies ready to walk to the school to see what was wrong. The mom said that they are usually home by 3:20. Okay so they got home at 3:25. I appologized and said sometimes the class will not leave on time because of situations such as the one that occured today. I wanted to tell the mom to chill the F down and to relax for a bit.--We all know that I can't say that. I was really nice and understanding. But come on!!
Hopefully tomorrow I won't have to call anymore parents. UGH!!!

This really get's to me
I graded papers this weekend and I got really upset with one little girl. Last Friday I gave my little kiddos a paper to do on Texas. Cause you know Texas is the only thing fourth graders study in social studies. Well anyways before I gave this paper out for them to do--I went through each question. I read the question to them and they had to find where to find it. Once they found it they had to tell me the page number they found it on and say what the right answer was. Easy enough I thought--everyone should get an A. Boy was I wrong--this little girl got a 37 on this paper. What a 37? Did I grade this paper wrong? No, that was right--37. So, today I pulled her out into the hallway and asked her what went wrong? She said that she couldn't hear me. Okay my friends--I'M NOT A SOFT TALKER!! TEACHERS DOWN THE HALL SAY THAT MY VOICE CARRIES!!! I asked her why she didn't ask for me to speak up, of course no answer--I know she heard me--She just wasn't paying attention!! They even got to use their books to look up the answers in case they forgot what we had talked about!! Good grief!!
Monday's
I hate Monday's!!!! My kiddos today seemed really out of it--Just like last tuesday. Did they take an I forgot everything pillover the weekend today? They didn't remember anything that they did last week. Especially Math!! To top it all off 5 minutes before I was to go pick up my kiddos this morning the secertary hands me a memo that says that the fourth grade was to switch with the second grade classes for p.e. Was the time on there of when the kiddos go to p.e. NO!! So there I am running across the hall asking a second grade teacher when their p.e. time was and vice versa. Okay after that was all cleared out of the way--they spring on us that 3rd, 4th, and 5th meet in the lunch room for book and brain for an hour and half. There goes my morning I thought!! This book and brain is all week long. UGH!!!! Then this afternoon they pulled us out afain for 20minutes to do the fundraiser with us. Good Grief do you think I got anything done today--UM NO!! We did review our math for their test tomorrow--but come on I didn't get to reading or writing today!! Oh well--hopefully I can squeeze some of that important stuff in tomorrow!!

Saturday
What a day!! I did nothing all day long!! I watched tv and took little cat naps all day long. Around 8 or so this evening I thought I would start my homework before I go get Armando from work. In a matter of an hour and a half I graded a stack of papers and completed my lesson plans for next week. YEAH!! Now tomorrow I don't have to worry about getting all of that done. I can spend hopefully a quiet sunday with Armando. Quiet because we have been having disagreements here of late. I think it's stress related to work and PMS. Don't you just love PMS!!
Anyway the second week of school was a little better than the 1st week that's for darn sure. I'm starting to find my groove!! One teacher said it never gets better and she's been teaching for over 20 years--WHAT A GRUMP!!!

One more thing
There are a couple of girls in my class that love to dance. So guess what they are trying to do--teach me to dance. They are getting the biggest kick out of me trying to do their fancy foot work. I told them by the end of September I should have that dance down. Yesterday I told them that I would go home and practice--do you think that they forgot--NO!! First thing this morning they asked if I had practiced. What funny girls they are!!! Gotta love them kiddos!
Calendar Math
Everyday I have been adding to my calendar math bulletin board. I'm still trying to remember what my friends had up on their bulletin board at the school I did my internship in. Well anyways, a teacher from across the hall who has been teaching forever and a day, came over today after school and looked at my board and said how much he liked it and wanted to copy it. That made me feel so good. I know I'm forgetting stuff on there, but slowly but surely it will get done.
I'm doing this for a reason
I was talking to another teacher the other day about my problem child and what steps I have taken to help her this year.(i.e. I have tried to find books that she likes to read, I know that she likes to draw, and I know she is good in math) Over the past two weeks she has really made a complete 180--I asked her if she likes being in fourth grade this year--her reply was an astounding YES!! Okay so with that in mind today the teacher that I have been talking to about her said to me that the reason I am teaching is because God wanted me to be her teacher, and God knows that I have the heart for her. I'm thinking that she is right. Even the assistant principal can see a difference in her. So, I guess this teaching thing isn't so bad.

The week in review
My first week of teaching was a bit overwhelming and very tiring. As the week progressed it did get a little better. The class and I had a great day on Friday. I think we are starting to get the hang of what to do. My trouble maker scored the highest grade in the class on the spelling test. She made a 102. I was so proud of her. She told that she had never in her entire life made a 102 before. Actually non of my students failed their spelling test. I told them how proud I was of them. YAY!! We are still working on creating sentences and paragraphs. I do know for a fact that this is going to be challenging. But I think I'm up for the challenge. Oh my principal walked into my room and stayed awhile--oh no I had a drive by!!! HAHAHA
I must have been really tired because I slept all day yesterday. I would get up to eat and go right back to bed. I was also emotional and crabby. Armando and I got into a little argument--I think he may even still be upset with me--oh well!!
I'm hoping that this coming week will be even better than last week.
