Not so bad

I'm happy to report that today wasn't so bad!!! My little trouble maker was actually kinda good today. She told me today that she really likes being the line leader. I guess it's because she feels in charge or something. As a class we talked about how important handwriting is. Man alive I tell you those fourth graders have the worst handwriting. I told them that if I can't read it, I'm not going to take the time to try and figure it out!! We worked on building sentences today. For the love of god--they didn't know what a freakin noun was!! Who taught these children????

Im pooped

You know teaching is one of the easiest professions to get a degree in, and it is the hardest to do!!!! Everyone keeps telling me that it does get easier. I'm not sure if I believe them, because right now--IT'S SUCKING BALLS!!! I dreaded getting up today. I think I finally got out of bed at 5:45am. AGH that's late. I like to leave no later than 6:45am.--But I did it. I made it out of the apartment by 6:45am, but was stuck in traffic. There was a horrible accident on 54 this morning that had traffic backed up for miles. A young girl I believe they said in her early early 20's was driving at a high rate of speed, lost control of her car, and rolled down the side. I saw the poor car--Good lord. Then I sawthe white sheet--I'm assuming she died!! --So needless to say I didn't get to school until 7:30--YIKES!! I felt rushed!! I walked into my room and saw a note on the floor from the little trouble maker of yesterday. It said she was sorry!! I wonder if she meant it. She was a little bit better today--but not by much that's for darn sure. Everything I taught was going pretty smoothly until writing time!! Good Grief these fourth graders can't write a damn sentence to save their life!!! I think I'm tired and beside myself!!! I think I'm headed for church on Saturday for some much needed guidance from the wonderful man upstairs!!!

178 more days of school left!!

What a day!!! I wish I could say that it was great!! But it wasn't at all!! I had one student get pushed back to third. Poor baby! And my child from you know where physically touched me. Why is it that if you touch a child or hurt a child you the teacher will get fired??!! But what it's okay if the student hurts you!! What's wrong with that picture? Social studies was our first subject that we covered today!! The students loved loved it. We talked about the globe and the different oceans and continents! They had so much fun! Then came math. The dreaded four letter word. We did okay I think. I hope. We had a couple of problems with a few things. Reading was horrible. I need to find a way to get these kiddos into reading! The basal reader, I do have to say is dull, but man they were zoning. Oh gosh my feet hurt, my head hurts, and I'm tired. Only 178 more days of school left!!

First Day of School

Wow is all I can say!! Today was first day of teaching!! My thought when I was leaving was,"You mean I have to come back tomorrow and do this again!" What a day today was!! 14 of my 18 students showed up today! Not many--I'm hoping a few more show up tomorrow. All of my students seem pretty good students--except for one!! Lordy B this one is going to be tough. I've already talked to the assistant principal about this student.
These students are much different than the students I taught while I was doing my student teaching. (I did my student teaching at a different school than where I am now.) They seem much lower. Half of them can't write in cursive, most of them can't spell to save their life, and some I can't even read their writing. Boy do I have my work cut out for me!!
I sure hope that tomorrow brings a different day and a different attitude!! I AM BEAT!!
I got choked up on the way home when I was talking to Armando on the phone. He told me to stop crying and go home and relax. I came home, but I didn't relax. I'm working on getting my plans in order for tomorrow!! Calgon Take Me Away!!!

Prayers needed for my Best Friend

I got a terrible phone call today from my best friend's cousin saying that Daniel was killed yesterday in Iraq. Once again I'm calling all prayes for Raquel, Jade, and Kendra!! I'm really torn up about this. All I can do is cry!

Walking

Yesterday, I was taking care of my nephews and needed to run home and let their dog out for a minute so she could tinkle. As I was doing that a car parked and two little old ladies got out of the car, so I was trying to hurry Roxy up. As I was tyring to hurry her up, I fell! The fell hurt and of course my nephews and these 2 little old ladies saw the whole thing. Matthew screamed out to see if I was ok. I replied to him with, "Um, I think so!" I got Roxy back into the house when my sandal started to feel wet! Oh no I thought-- I looked down and piece of skin was hanging off my foot. That's when the pain set in. I started to cry and wonder how on earth I was going to do this with 2 little boys and a big dog. So, I called my parents and told them that I needed their help. My oldest nephew Sean took great care of me. He told to sit in the bathroom until his Memaw got there to take care of me. (Memaw is my mom) Matthew was just sitting in the bathroom with me saying poor poor auntie--she has a boo boo. Finally my mom got to my brothers and patched me all up.

Let me just warn you--don't ever break your feet (which I have--both of them) or scrap skin off the bottom of your foot. It truly sucks!!!

The Weather Outside

Happy August to all!!! It's the first day of August and the weather outside is great!! It's cloudy, thundering, and rainy outside!!! I love it, love it, and did I say I love it!!

Well, seeing how today is the first day of August, there is only 26 more days until the first day of school for the kids!! UGH!! That's all I have to say. I called my school today to see when I would be able to start working in my classroom--unfortunately the school isn't ready yet. The principal said that he would send out an email telling everyone when we can start back on the 13th. So, I guess I will just continue to sit back and enjoy what is left of my summer--
