This really get's to me
I graded papers this weekend and I got really upset with one little girl. Last Friday I gave my little kiddos a paper to do on Texas. Cause you know Texas is the only thing fourth graders study in social studies. Well anyways before I gave this paper out for them to do--I went through each question. I read the question to them and they had to find where to find it. Once they found it they had to tell me the page number they found it on and say what the right answer was. Easy enough I thought--everyone should get an A. Boy was I wrong--this little girl got a 37 on this paper. What a 37? Did I grade this paper wrong? No, that was right--37. So, today I pulled her out into the hallway and asked her what went wrong? She said that she couldn't hear me. Okay my friends--I'M NOT A SOFT TALKER!! TEACHERS DOWN THE HALL SAY THAT MY VOICE CARRIES!!! I asked her why she didn't ask for me to speak up, of course no answer--I know she heard me--She just wasn't paying attention!! They even got to use their books to look up the answers in case they forgot what we had talked about!! Good grief!!

That's the worst!! Yes, it is very frustrating!! Hopefully next time she will pay attention!!
Throw an eraser at her!
Don't throw and eraser at her!! Is she really not paying attention or is she easily confused? Try to have patience, I know how frustrating it can be. I have one of my very own who we quietly call our "special child" just because she seems lost at times. She has done what your student has...I just hope that she grows up within the next couple of years. She too is a fourth grader. I keep telling her she's no longer a baby and needs to speak up for herself if she doesn't understand something. Hopefully she will catch on soon!
