Im pooped
You know teaching is one of the easiest professions to get a degree in, and it is the hardest to do!!!! Everyone keeps telling me that it does get easier. I'm not sure if I believe them, because right now--IT'S SUCKING BALLS!!! I dreaded getting up today. I think I finally got out of bed at 5:45am. AGH that's late. I like to leave no later than 6:45am.--But I did it. I made it out of the apartment by 6:45am, but was stuck in traffic. There was a horrible accident on 54 this morning that had traffic backed up for miles. A young girl I believe they said in her early early 20's was driving at a high rate of speed, lost control of her car, and rolled down the side. I saw the poor car--Good lord. Then I sawthe white sheet--I'm assuming she died!! --So needless to say I didn't get to school until 7:30--YIKES!! I felt rushed!! I walked into my room and saw a note on the floor from the little trouble maker of yesterday. It said she was sorry!! I wonder if she meant it. She was a little bit better today--but not by much that's for darn sure. Everything I taught was going pretty smoothly until writing time!! Good Grief these fourth graders can't write a damn sentence to save their life!!! I think I'm tired and beside myself!!! I think I'm headed for church on Saturday for some much needed guidance from the wonderful man upstairs!!!

I heard that accident was BAD!! And yes I think she did die!! Totally scared me when I heard after my accident was only a week prior!
That's why I leave early too just in case the traffic is bad I still wont be late!!
Suzy, I would love to email you but you don't have your email on here. Anyway. Just wanted to say that I was totally depressed my first year of teaching. I wasn't hired until late summer, so I got all the kids the other teachers didn't want. My first semester was HORRIBLE. And I was only part-time then! The second semester was overwhelming as I was teaching full-time for a teacher on maternity leave and her courseload included a class with NO pre-written curriculum! (Later I loved that course, but it took me three years to get it down!) The kids were mean, the parents were worse, and I cried every morning before I left for school.
But, after a while, it got better. I really mean it. By the holidays I was doing a little better with discipline and parent relationships. By the 2nd and 3rd years it was much better.
I hope your little one who is giving you such a hard time works out for you. Keep working. But don't let her take over your entire mind. Take a break form her every once in a while.
And learn to love the kids who are quiet and listen and blend in among the crazies. I still keep in touch with a few of mine. I still kep in touch with a few of the crazies too, actually. Gotta love that myspace!
Feel free to write anytime. I totally relate. I taught high school, but the learning curve was just as tough!
